Şövalye Island

Şövalye Island is a charming and small island located in the Fethiye district of Muğla, also known as Megri Island or Fethiye Island. This long, narrow island, which almost closes the mouth of the Telmessos Gulf, has historically provided more protection to Fethiye Harbor. It is the only island in the region that has a settlement on it. To the west of the island is Kızıl Island, to the east is Çalış Beach, to the south is Fethiye, and to the north is the Fethiye Gulf.

Şövalye Island, with its many hotels, restaurants, beaches, and picnic areas, is one of the must-visit destinations in Fethiye, even on the hottest summer days, thanks to the cooling Mediterranean breeze.

You can reach Şövalye Island by boats departing from Fethiye Gulf. During the summer months, regular sea bus services are available between 10:00 AM and 7:00 PM to the island, which is 1.5 nautical miles away from Fethiye.

Located to the north of Fethiye Harbor and with its strategic position that allows control over the harbor’s entrances, Şövalye Island has always had strategic importance. In recent years, due to its increasing popularity, it is frequently preferred as a resort and day-trip accommodation area.
